We are excited to announce a few additions to Heartland Beat this school year in partnership with Heartland Community Schools. We will continue to bring you a Student of the Month from the high school, but we will also now feature an Elementary Student of the Month along with selected outstanding students in each elementary grade. Another great feature will be the selection of a Teacher of the Month in recognition of our school’s outstanding staff. Watch for these new posts this school year!

From these students, Austin Schmidt was selected as the Elementary Student of the Month.
Austin Schmidt is a 2nd grader at Heartland this year in Mrs. Goff’s classroom. When asked what his favorite subject in school is, his eyes widened and a smile spread across his face as he exclaimed with hesitating, “Recess!†Inside the classroom, however, he enjoys writing time.
A few of Austin’s favorite things about school at Heartland are music class, the 100th day celebrations, and when the teachers did the “Chicken Dance†on the school roof.
Austin is in avid reader who said one of his favorite book series is the Magic Tree House, but he is currently having a hard time finding a set of books he hasn’t already read! Outside of school, Austin plays baseball and loves going over to both of his grandmas’ houses. Someday Austin wants to become a teacher.
Congratulations to Austin and all of the elementary students selected!
