The Junior Auxiliary of the Henderson Health Care Services hosted their seventh annual “Junior Auxiliary Jaunt†– a 5K and 10K run/walk – during the Henderson Community Days weekend. Proceeds from the event will go toward a project at HHCS.
There were 87 participants registered for the event. Participants’ ages ranged from eleven-year-old Porter Discoe of Columbus, NE, to Gene Dondlinger, age 72 of Shickley, NE.
Most of the registrants were from Henderson and surrounding communities, however out-of-state addresses included Overland Park, Kansas; Rochester, Minnesota; Denver, Colorado; and Seattle, Washington.
Following are the top finishers:
5K Men – 1. Eric Rasmussen of York 15:35, 2. Jeff Peters of Henderson 19:21, 3. Chris Buller of Henderson 19.30. All three top finishers came out of the 30-39 year age group.
5K Women – 1. Erin Esslinger of Aurora 20:01, 2. Lauren Clark of York 20:16, 3. Rachel Carrizales of Grand Island 20:57. Erin and Rachel were in the 20-29 age group and Lauren is 15 years old.
10K Men – The top two placers came out of the 50-59 year age group: 1. Larry Jones of Lincoln 41:48, 2. Wesley Hochstetler of Shickley 46:28, 3. Bret Jost of Henderson 50:39 from the 20-29 age group.
10K Women – All three top finishers were from the 20-29 age division: 1. Laura Jost of Henderson 50:38, 2. Tessa Siebert of Denver, CO 52:47, 3. Becca Page 1:01.18.
There was a ‘just for fun’ team competition. A team was made up of three 5K runners whose times were combined. A ‘turtle’ (slowest combined time) and ‘rabbit’ (fastest combined time) team were awarded appropriate prizes. Gatorade was presented to “Wayne’s World†– John, Makenna, and Keely Kroeker of Lincoln, NE – for the fastest combined time, and a package of donuts was presented to “Team Kerosene†– John Boeder, Devin Johansen, and Maile Boeder of the Aurora area.
