Heartland FBLA members traveled to Anaheim, California, for the National Leadership Conference held June 25 to July 1. Â Mikaelyn Dick, Ashley Quiring, Allison Braun, Bailey Carr, Colton Siebert, Haley Huebert, Rebekah Larson, Eve Vanderneck, and Owen Wurst along with adviser Kristy Most enjoyed the week-long conference activities. The group stayed at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel. Nebraska was represented by 285 members and advisers who attended the conference to compete at the national level.
While in Anaheim, members had the opportunity to network with members from across the nation, listen to speakers and campaign speeches, and explore the city. The first day the group spent a few hours at the Santa Monica Pier; great beach, good food, and fun entertainment. The next day they traveled to Universal Studios in Hollywood. At the conference, members listened to keynote speaker Judson Laipply, a motivational speaker who performed the “Evolution of Dance.â€Â He engaged his audience from the time he stepped onto the stage until he danced off it. The next two days were filled with competitive tests ranging from Accounting I to Word Processing II. Heartland members also enjoyed the following activities during the week: Disneyland and California Adventure, shopping Downtown Disney, tour of Hollywood, and the Walk of Fame.
Nebraska’s competitors were “Igniting Innovation†as Nebraska FBLA won 27 competitive event awards. For Heartland, Allison Braun placed fourth in the nation in Business Law. This was Allison’s third appearance at a national conference.
Eve Vanderneck placed fourth in the nation in Word Processing I. This was her first appearance at a national conference.
Rebekah Larson placed tenth in the nation in Word Processing I. This was her first appearance at a national conference.
Also competing at Nationals were Mikaelyn Dick in Word Processing II, Ashley Quiring in Economics, Bailey Carr in Leadership, Colton Siebert in Accounting I, and Haley Huebert and Owen Wurst in Introduction to Business.
