Southeast Community College would like to announce the Annual All-Star Volleyball Game on Friday, June 14, 2013, and the Annual Southeast Nebraska All-Star Basketball Games on Saturday, June 15, 2013.  All games will be held at the Truman Center on the SCC-Beatrice campus.  The volleyball game will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, and the basketball games will begin with a 6:00 p.m. tip-off for the women and an 8:00 p.m. tip-off for the men on Saturday evening.

The approximate boundaries for the All-Star games were Highway 81 to the West, Highways 2 and 6 to the North, the Iowa/Nebraska/Missouri border to the East, and the Kansas border to the South.  The teams were divided by Highway 77 and will be identified as the East and West teams.  Over eighty high schools were invited to make nominations for the squads.

Each team was chosen by nominations submitted by the Southeast Nebraska coaches. The nominations were then screened by a committee made up of this year’s coaching staff and all other previous All-Star head coaches.  From this meeting, players were sent invitations to play in the games.

Three students who just graduated from Heartland were selected to play.

Sara Brune, daughter of Paul and Diane Brune was selected to be on the West All-Star Volleyball Team.  The Head Coach of this team will be Brett Scheiding, and the Assistant Coach will be Jon Yost.

Mikaelyn Dick, daughter of Mark and Karen Dick, will be on the West All-Star Basketball Girls Team.  The Head Coach of this team will be Jermey Borer, and the Assistant Coach will be Andy Long.

Brent Reiger, son of Kent and Jean Regier, will be playing on the West All-Star Basketball Boys Team.  The Head Coach of this team will be Tony Muller, and the Assistant Coach will be Cam Scholl.

Congratulations to these players on their selections!
