Do you know of a 10th or 11th grade high school student who has an IEP or a Section 504 Plan? Do they know what they would like to do after high school?  Now is the time to be thinking of these things, and you can help by making plans to attend the Project SEARCH Open House on Monday, March 25, from 6:00-7:30 pm at York General Willow Brook. This will be an evening for the young adult and you to begin thinking about life after high school, to learn more about what Project SEARCH is, what it offers, and how someone can get involved.

Project SEARCH is an international program that works with young adults who are in their last year of high school, that have an IEP or a Section 504 plan work on employable skills in a work setting. They have an opportunity to participate in three non-paid internships where they can learn soft and transferable skills.  Our local Project SEARCH site is at York General Health Care Services (YGHCS), with a partnership between YGHCS, ESU 6, Vocational Rehabilitation, Nebraska Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Nebraska Assistive Technology Partnership, HHS Developmental Disabilities, and the local high school of the participating Project SEARCH Intern.  To RSVP or to get more information, please contact Nichole Wetjen at nwetjen@esu6.net or 402.366.3536.
