The Henderson Mennonite Heritage Park and newly completed Country Church were formally dedicated this past Sunday afternoon.  About 100 people gathered for the service filling up the gray pews, simple backless benches, and wooden folding chairs.  The service was led by Norm Yoder who was one of the original members of the Henderson Heritage & Tourism Committee when it was first organized back in 1998.

Yoder gave an account of the development of the park over the past 14 years and recognized many volunteers, businesses, and organizations who have helped make the Heritage Park a reality.  He gave special recognition to Alfred Epp, Carl Siebert, and Harvey Smith for their significant role in the planning and construction of many of the park’s buildings.

With a packed house, the acoustics of the new Country Church were tested out while John Goertzen led those attending in singing two hymns– “Great is His Faithfulness” and “For God So Loved Us.”  A prayer of dedication was given by Pastor Mike Fink.  Following the dedication, the audience was invited to attend the Q125 Birthday Party celebration at the school.
