This was another solid outing for us today. I was happy to see us come back after a very strong showing in a tournament and put up another solid score. We are well ahead of where we were last year as a team at this point, but I think we have a chance to be even better then we are right now. The key to this dual was that our girls had to play with some expectations on them. They all knew they had put together a very good round the last outing, and playing with a little pressure can make it more difficult, that being said, I feel we answered the call very well.
Paige Mestl had another strong day with a 41. She really hit the ball well from tee to green, but struggled to find her putting stroke, but still managed to shoot a very solid score. Paige was a bit unhappy with that part of her game, but that is what makes her the player she is.
Sam Boardman and Lydia Quiring both came out and shot 54. Sam is hitting the ball so much harder and better then she did last year and it is really fun to see that. I think Sam has a chance to shoot some very good scores this year and a great chance to medal at several of our tournaments coming up. Lydia has really stepped it up this season and put together another pretty solid round.
Kaitlyn Quiring fired a 56 while Kaeli Lundstrom came in with a 65. Kaitlyn is hitting it well, but is fighting to be a bit more consistent with her swing. She has come a long ways, and I think the more she plays the better she is going to get. Kaeli had an alright day on the course, she was just not able to hit it as well as she normally does. Kaeli is getting better but will need to stay confident as we move forward.
I was happy with our day and look forward to our tournament on Thursday at Southern Hills Golf Club in Hastings. This will be a very good tournament for us. There are several high level teams in this tournament and I think it will give us a good measuring stick for where we are right now and where we need to get to as a team by districts.
