This week these signs popped up around Henderson, along with darling flocks of flamingos! The pink fowls, a fundraiser for Bethesda Preschool, roost on a lawn for 24 hours then flock to another yard. The Preschool is working towards a playground remodel. Plans include a trike track, new play structure, covered sandbox and rubber groundcover. Yet, the playground is just part of a larger project taken on by the preschool. In May, the entrance to the school was spruced up with foliage around trees, planters near the door ways, along with a Bethesda Preschool sign that is in the works for the fall. The last 2 weeks in June were spent, with the help of community volunteers, on the addition of a Peace Garden that will double as an outdoor learning space during the school year.
Flamingos are the first in a series of Summer fundraisers for the playground. The preschool will be serving Farmer’s Market meals July 10th, 17th, 31st and August 7th. A Trike-a-Thon is also set for September. All funds raised from the listed activities go towards the playground trike track. Everyone is invited to get involved! Those interested in more information on any of this activities should contact Carrie Epp, Wendy Janzen or Erin Sams.
