The Heartland Hoedowners from Elkhorn, Nebraska will be performing for the 125th Anniversary celebration here in Henderson on Saturday, July 14. The Hoedowners are a select group of girls from Rennae’s School of Dance who specialize in the form of dance known as clogging. These girls range in age from 7-19 and typically perform around 40 shows a year entertaining people with their fast-flying feet and hand-clapping music.
The Hoedowners were asked to come to Henderson due to a special relationship one of the girls has with our town. Addie Thomas, age 9, pictured above center, is the daughter of Nate and Amanda Thomas and the granddaughter of Ron and Carol Thomas.
The girls are very excited to come to Henderson and share with all of us this fun and entertaining form of dancing. The Hoedowners will be performing in the parade Saturday morning and then will perform a 30-45 minute show in the downtown park directly afterward. They will also have a food stand in the downtown park to raise funds to defray some of their traveling expenses.
Everyone is invited to come watch this talented group of young ladies perform.
