Henderson will be celebrating 125 years by honoring the past, celebrating the present and exploring the future during Henderson Community Days July 13-15, 2012.  There is a great list of events scheduled for the weekend with many changes to the schedule from previous years to accommodate all of the activities due to this special celebration.
On Friday the festivities will kick-off with the Chamber BBQ from 5-7 p.m. in the downtown park.  Following the BBQ there will be a History Program in the school theater and the rest of the activity will move to the Lakeview Park for the Ping Pong Slider, Family Pool Party, Dodgeball Tournament and Fireworks Display.
Saturday morning the activities will start bright and early with the Heritage Park Pancake Feed and HHCS Jr. Auxiliary Jaunt followed by the Alumni Basketball Tournament, opening of the Friesen Gallery Art Show and Main Street Parade. After the parade the action will move to both Henderson Parks.  In the Downtown Park there will be several food vendors, a performance by the Heartland Hoedowners, putt-putt golf, inflatables and games for families.  In the Lakeview Park there will also be a food stand and the 14th Annual Show and Shine Car Show. In the afternoon head out to Henderson Mennonite Heritage Park and try your hand at the Siphon Tube contest and tour the park.  On Saturday evening the Henderson/Heartland Alumni Banquet will be held at Heartland Community Schools and will feature the entertainment of comedian/magician Gayle Becwar. The Saturday evening activities will end with Ultimate Frisbee at 8 p.m.
The festivities conclude on Sunday, July 15 with a Community Church Service in the downtown park at 10 a.m. the Q125 Hamburger Fry, and afternoon golf tournament at Galaway Creek Golf Course.
