Steve Friesen, Nationwide pro golfer, is the grandson of Martha (Mrs. Allen) Friesen of Henderson.

Steve is on tour and was playing in the Wichita Open last week.  Mayor Ken Bergen and his wife Maxine made the trip and watched him play the back nine holes on Sunday.

What a treat that would be.  You can also see Steve play this week as he heads to Evansville, Indiana.  You can watch this tournament on The Golf Channel, which will be televising all four days of play; Thursday thru Sunday.  Schedule is as follows:  Thursday, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. CST; Friday 10:30 am – noon, CST; Saturday 6:30 – 8:30 pm CST; Sunday 6:30 – 8:30 pm CST.

Steve will also be playing in Omaha in the Cox Classic Golf Tournament, August 2-5.

Make sure you catch him hit the links as he continues his success.  He won the Price Cutter Classic Nationwide golf tournament in Springfield, MO last year.

It is fun to watch a golfer who has roots right here in Henderson.  Steve’s early golf career started on the Henderson golf course, actually.  When he was in early elementary school, the Lincoln public courses would not allow him to play on their courses because he was too young.   As a result, he played most of that summer on the Henderson course where he was quite welcome to play.

Be sure to watch Steve as he tees off.
