As the 125th Anniversary Celebration of Henderson approaches during Henderson Community Days, July 13-15, 2012, there is one area where community involvement is still needed to make the weekend a success.
A new opportunity available in 2012 is the Saturday lunch stands happening in the Henderson downtown park. The Q125 Steering Committee is looking for individuals who are interested in serving food items from 11:00 am – 1: 00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14. They will be given space inside the park shelter and the opportunity to raise money by selling the food they choose to make. Food stands can decide on the type of food they want to sell, which can range from a full meal to just a special item or two.
The decision to include a food stand in the Downtown Park on Saturday was an idea to complement the Food Stand already taking place at the Lakeview Park during the Car Show, since one of the main changes for 2012 includes moving the Grand Parade to Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. With this change there will be more people in downtown Henderson then there have been in the past, so it is going to be necessary to have more food vendors. As a committee we want to give first choice to these food stands to local people, businesses and organization, however, if there is a lack of interest locally, regional food vendors will be contacted.
If you are interested in having a food stand, or would like more information, contact the Henderson Chamber of Commerce at (402) 723-4228 or email hchamber@mainstaycomm.net. Visit www.HendersonNE.com for a preliminary schedule for the 2012 Henderson Community Days and 125th Anniversary Celebration.
