The Galaway Creek Golf Course is once again open for action for golfers local and visiting. The sound of club meeting golf ball came early this year because of the warm weather. The home show was a good way to pay for memberships, but with that opportunity past, members are encouraged to stop by the clubhouse to pay dues and fees, sign up for men’s league, and meet the new clubhouse manager.
Membership costs remained the same this year. Past members also received a form in the mail, which they can bring in with their membership. Signing up is a short process of updating information along with payment.
Men’s league will take its first swing at 6:30 P.M. on Thursday, May 3. If you haven’t signed up, there is a list on the counter in the clubhouse where you can register for a summer of great competition.
New clubhouse manager this year is Ardys Dunsmoor. She is retiring from teaching in Hampton and looks forward to the challenge of learning about the workings of a golf course. Until the school year winds down, her hours are mostly evenings and weekends. However, the summer will find her organizing various events and managing the paid and volunteer help.
Out on the course, golfers will find new signs that illustrate the lay out of the course hole by hole. A local business sponsors each hole. Art students of Heartland Community Schools under the direction of Art Instructor Britany Renz and Galaway Creek GC Sign Project Chair Jim Mestl have put in numerous hours painting the new signs. Regulars and visiting golfers will enjoy this improvement as they swing through the course.
