Heartland came out fighting for a win last night against David City in the Southern Nebraska Conference Tournament, but things did not fall their way as they take the first round loss 38-48.
Although trailing, the Huskies kept it close the entire game. Â They had a few surges, but just could quite close the small gap.
The fourth quarter was an exciting one and the Heartland crowd got amped for the possibility of a win. Â Freshman, Tyler Brown sparked the fire mid-fourth quarter by taking a charge call to get the ball back and hitting a big three pointer. Â Heartland picked up the pressure and caused David City to start scrambling. Â But, with time running out, it was just too little too late for the Huskies and with a few missed shots and a couple turnovers, they were forced to foul.
It was a good effort shown by the Huskies last night, but there conference tournament play ended early. Â Heartland was led in scoring tonight by Freshman, Cole Nickels with 14 points.
The Huskies Girls hope for a different outcome tonight against the Centennial Broncos who defeated Thayer Central last night to advance. Â You can watch the game live on the Huskies Sports Network at HeartlandBeat.com if you are unable to attend and cheer on the Huskies!
