Sam Boardman, a Heartland Junior, has been nominated as the HeartlandBeat.com Student of the Month by Art Instructor Britany Renz.  “Sam has shown great leadership over the past two years in art club in which she is currently president.  She has also shown leadership in art classes demonstrating outstanding results in her art projects,” said Renz.

Sam is pictured with one of her successes.  This pencil perspective drawing was chosen from several hundred entries for the Scholastic Art Award of Nebraska Competition.  She received an honorable mention for her drawing as one of the 400 entries in this prestigious event that was displayed in Omaha.

“I like working on all my art class assignments but especially enjoy putting my own twist on whatever I am doing,” said Boardman.  Serving as the Art Club president, Boardman was instrumental in helping organize the annual art workshop for grades K-4.  This year they assisted elementary students in two after school sessions create their own plastic mold masks and decorate them.

Although she has excelled with her artwork, she is interested in pursuing a degree in the medical field after high school.   She also enjoys competing on the Heartland golf team and is very involved in the high school band playing the trumpet with a variety of small groups.

“She works hard to achieve high standards and improve in art–in and out of school,” said Renz.  Congratulations to Sam for her hard work and dedication making her an outstanding HeartlandBeat Student of the Month!
