The Huskies came out looking to get a jump on the Harvard Cardinals.  They did just that as they got up on the Cardinals early and never let them back in it as the Huskies get the victory 42-34.

Replay the LIVE Blog from Tuesday’s game.

Still small in numbers, the Huskies pulled together well and worked hard on the floor.  Junior, Brent Regier did a nice job as the big man down low hitting some shots and pulling down the boards. Freshman, Jordan Heinrichs stepped up his game as he also hit some big shots from the outside.

The team will go into this weekend 1-1 as they face Sandy Creek at home on Friday and travel to Hampton on Saturday.

Thoughts from Coach Baehr:

It was a experience for our guys to go on the road and play.  I thought that was good for us to get away from home and get in an us against the world idea.  I think that at times with a young team it helps to loosen you up and not play so tight, and I think that was the case for our boys.

We had a solid night as a whole, I would have liked to see us take better care of the ball on the night as we had 17 turnovers, but I felt as a whole we did pretty good.  We were able to really control the tempo of the game and get the ball inside as Brent Regier had his best career night with 20 points and 10 rebounds (6 offensive rebounds).  Brent is really coming on, and we were able to pound it inside and he did the rest.

We had several other players have nice games.  Cody Kroeker took to the role of charge taker and had two charge takes.  Taking charges is something our kids take pride in, Cody Brown started it and he has rubbed off on our other guys.  Jordan Heinrichs had 9 points and 5 assists on the night. Cody Brown pulled in 9 rebounds and had 4 points.

At the end of the night, I thought we controlled the game and really did a good job of building on the lead from halftime and stretching the game out. We did allow a couple of baskets at the end to let them pull a bit closer, but we are learning and we are getting better.
