The Huskie Volleyball team kicked off their season at the Wilber-Clatonia triangular on Thursday September 1st. The night started by playing Wilber-Clatonia and completed with a Sandy Creek match up.

The Huskie’s showed their dominance and heavy hitters by winning the first match handily beating Wilber-Clatonia 25-13/25-7.  The next match up proved to be more of a challenge.  Both sets were a battle back and forth against Class C-1’s preseason #6, Sandy Creek.  After putting up quite a fight and going extra points in both sets, the Huskies fell short and dropped the match 27-25/27-25.

The loss to Sandy Creek did not appear to make the Huskie’s falter much as they returned to action against Friend High School at Friend on Tuesday night.  The team came out strong having improved on serving favorably after the long holiday weekend.  The Huskies played with confidence and came out victorious in three sets: 25-12/25-12/25-11.

It was fun to watch the progression of the team and only look forward to more excitement on the court to come when the Huskies take on Thayer Central in the season’s home opener tomorrow (Thursday) with 5:30/6:30 start times for C Team and Junior Varsity.  Varsity action is scheduled to start at 7:30pm.  Make sure to visit HeartlandBeat.com to watch the live stream of the game tonight.
