The Huskie Girls Golf team kicked off the season with a win at Superior yesterday. Â Here is what Coach Jon Baehr had to say:
We were able to win our dual with Superior on Monday. Â We played okay for our first time on the course with this group, but I feel we can shoot much better scores then what we showed.
We had several girls making their golf debut today. Â Four freshman took the course for us and that was something new for them to go through. Kim Stort is a senior, but she is from Holland and had never competed in an event like this. Â So as a whole, lots of firsts going on for us.
Paige Mestl shot a dual low with a 54. Â I know she was a bit upset with her round, Â and she didn’t play her best, but I expect her to have a very good year and to really shoot some quality rounds for us.
Jen Yoder played well on seven of the nine holes, but had a few holes that really hurt her round. Â Jen is driving the ball very well right now, and as the year goes on I think she will turn in some really good scores for us.
Sam Boardman is really improving as a whole, and she is well ahead of where she was last year. Â She shot a 63, but I would expect that score to go down as the year goes on as well.
Like I said, I didn’t think we played our best golf by any means, but we are in a spot to get better as the year goes on.
