The Huskie Girls Golf team kicked off the season with a win at Superior yesterday.  Here is what Coach Jon Baehr had to say:

We were able to win our dual with Superior on Monday.  We played okay for our first time on the course with this group, but I feel we can shoot much better scores then what we showed.

We had several girls making their golf debut today.  Four freshman took the course for us and that was something new for them to go through. Kim Stort is a senior, but she is from Holland and had never competed in an event like this.  So as a whole, lots of firsts going on for us.

Paige Mestl shot a dual low with a 54.  I know she was a bit upset with her round,  and she didn’t play her best, but I expect her to have a very good year and to really shoot some quality rounds for us.

Jen Yoder played well on seven of the nine holes, but had a few holes that really hurt her round.  Jen is driving the ball very well right now, and as the year goes on I think she will turn in some really good scores for us.

Sam Boardman is really improving as a whole, and she is well ahead of where she was last year.  She shot a 63, but I would expect that score to go down as the year goes on as well.

Like I said, I didn’t think we played our best golf by any means, but we are in a spot to get better as the year goes on.
