Metz Mortuary held an Open House Sunday, July 17th from 1pm to 3pm.

They invited the community into their brand new doors to get a look at the beautiful new facility.  Their relocation was a result of the renovation of the building on Main Street that was purchased six years ago.  It is around 2,000 square feet and almost every inch of it was gutted and redone, complete with a new roof, to fit the needs of Metz Mortuary and to fit the Henderson Community.

When, owner Jon Broulliette purchased the building, business just was not quite busy enough to begin the building process. But, within the last couple of years, things have picked up and they decided to start building the new location.  That was going to be best for them and offer the best to their clientele.

Broulliette has been so very pleased with the treatment they have received by the community and he truly wants to give back to the community through this new development.

The construction was done by Hiebner & Friesen Construction and the work they did was just spectacular.  The process began in October of 2010 and the new Metz Mortuary has been open since the 1st of July of this year.  Milf Doell did all the custom wood work inside, which adds a beautiful touch.

The new building is complete with a serene entry with sitting and built-in sign in area.  It then goes back to a restroom and a private family room which then leads into the viewing area complete with a flat screen tv for slideshows and sitting area.  Finally, the back of the building is finished off with a full kitchenette.

The decor gives off the perfect, comforting feel.  It is decked out with great pictures of the Henderson Churches and their past.  The churches and their architecture and photos of people and the past adorn the walls.  It is truly a great view and all the interior design work was done by Metz employee, Misty Brestel. She was looking to create a classic hollywood feel, but not cross the line into a feminine look.  She also wanted to make the building very church oriented and showcase the culture of Henderson.  What she did really works and the place looks and feels great.  She even incorporated a touch of the building’s history as she framed a block of the original ceiling tile and hung it in the front room.

Metz Mortuary has undergone a big change, but they have not forgot the reason for their success.  There has been much help through the years from Don Buller, Walt Rempel, Harlan Epp and Don Siebert.  They have dedicated a lot of time and effort into Metz and they are more than grateful for all the assistance.

The Open House for the new building was a hit, with an estimate of over 100 people in attendance.  Mayor, Ken Bergen said, “The city of Henderson is very appreciative of Metz Mortuary in their investment in improving Main Street and the downtown Henderson area with their new storefront.”
