The Heartland Community High School held prom Saturday, May 7th. The theme this year was ‘A Midnight Luau’ where the servers wore grass skirts and lays and the valet service all wore Hawaiian shirts. The school’s old gym was decked from ceiling to floor in beautiful and classy decor and the kids looked as if they were ready for a night of fun and relaxation to finish off a busy school year.
The students showed up with dates or friends, some even took a a joyride in lawn chairs on the back of a truck bed. Dinner was catered at the school and the students did a walk through into the theater where this year’s king and queen were announced.
Heartland’s 2011 Prom King is Tanner Steingard, senior, son of Johnny and Lori Steingard. Tanner was a four year letter winner in basketball and football. Lettered one year in golf and a three year letter winner in track. He earned a scholastic letter his sophomore, junior and senior years. Tanner was in band four years, lettering his sophomore, junior and senior years. He was also involved in brass choir, pep band, stage band and jazz band four years. He was involved in the musical his sophomore year. He was a member of FFA attending the state conference four years and was an officer his junior and senior years. He was a member of Science Club, Student Council and FCA for 4 years. He is also a member of National Honor Society.
Heartland’s 2011 Prom Queen is Miranda Driewer, senior, daughter of Brian Driewer. Miranda lettered four years in track and volleyball. She earned a scholastic letter her sophomore, junior and senior years. She was in chorus and band all four years lettering her sophomore, junior and senior years. She was also involved in Brass Choir, Pep band, Jazz band, and stage band all four years. She was in women’s triple trio four years, solos three years, chamber singers four years, and was drum major her junior and senior years. Miranda was in the musical her sophomore and senior year and the one act play two years. She was a member of FFA and attended state conference all four years. She was a member of the student council, Science Club, FCA and was a class officer all four years. Miranda is also a member of National Honor Society.
The night was well orchestrated with lots of help from underclassmen, sponsors, school faculty and volunteers. The 2011 Heartland Prom was a success.
