Recognizing all the many accomplishments of Heartland students is a vital part of our publication. We are happy to launch our new “Student of the Month†feature that will highlight the achievements of one Heartland student each month.   We would like to thank our sponsor for this new monthly feature–The Headquarters Tanning & Hair Salon.
Our April 2011 Student of the Month is Ashley Quiring.  She was nominated by Heartland FBLA sponsor/teacher Kristy Most.  Ashley is a sophomore at Heartland and has been involved in FBLA since her Freshman year.  Her achievement at the Nebraska FBLA State Leadership Conference in Omaha on April 7-9 was outstanding.  She placed 1st out of 309 students statewide in Accounting I.  Bev Newton, the FBLA State Advisor, said that Ashley’s success was remarkable since she is only a sophomore.  Most students competing in Accounting I are juniors and seniors.
“It’s fun!  I enjoy the challenges and chance to compete at these FBLA events,†said Ashley of her experience.  It doesn’t hurt that Ashley’s favorite subject is Accounting and she looks forward to attending the National FBLA competition in Orlando, FL June 26 – July 2.  Congratulations Ashley for your success and being such a great representative for the Heartland school district!
