The Bethesda Board of Education is excited to announce its 2011 Bethesda Bible Series featuring Conrad L. Kanagy, author of “Road Signs for the Journey: A Profile of the Mennonite Church.” This year’s Bible Series promises to be an event with sessions for all ages. Kanagy will use the weekend to address questions facing Bethesda and the broader church.
Is the Mennonite church growing? What kinds of challenges are facing us as a church today? Are these challenges also affecting otherdenominations? How do we remain faithful to God’s call in the twenty-first century? Conrad will tackle these questions and many more as he shares the changes in the Mennonite Church from 1972 (when the first survey was taken) through today. Kanagy will engage us in discussion and question and answer times. He will also compare what the church is facing today with the days of the prophet Jeremiah.
Kanagy’s pastoral and missional approach will challenge us to open our eyes to areas where we have missed our missional calling, while pointing to signs of hope and renewal in the church.
