KLUTE opened its first satellite office in West Omaha just a few months ago. “Creating a satellite drafting department in Omaha has helped us have access to a larger number of drafting applicants,” said Supervisor Curtis Briggs.

KLUTE is a steel fabricator specializing in substation and transmission projects for the electrical utility industry. Its rapid growth and expansion have resulted in a growing workload for its drafting department.

Finding enough local drafters, engineers, and estimators to meet their growing needs has been challenging. At their plant 8 miles west of York, 10 employees work in the drafting department, which is an integral part of their business.

But they’ve discovered that the future of the team will evolve into an integrated approach—leveraging skilled professionals in engineering, drafting and estimators from both the York area and the Omaha metro region.

It started small, with two employees from York moving to Omaha to start the office. Supervisor Curtis Briggs said, “It’s going well after completing our first round of hiring. We had plenty of applicants and have two new hires we are currently training.”

The new satellite office has space for up to 25 employees, and the team is excited about expanding in the Omaha metro area, which offers additional opportunities for hiring top talent. They recently posted job listings for another round of hiring in both York and Omaha and plan to continue growing their team over the next few years.

KLUTE’s satellite office will give them a competitive advantage by providing access to a broader talent pool and greater operational flexibility.
