The 14th Annual Henderson Health Care Foundation Golf Tournament, held August 11th at Galaway Creek Golf Course in Henderson, was once again a huge success! The 4-person scramble saw 23 teams participate, raising over $14,000 in proceeds toward the fundraising campaign for HHC’s current Hospital/Surgery Expansion & Renovation Project.
It’s official and disappointing for the Heartland school district. The Special mail-in-only election with a resolution for Heartland to increase its tax authority request did not receive the required 60% approval needed.
Heartland Community Schools is welcoming seven new certified staff members this year in a variety of positions. “We feel very fortunate that we were able to hire some really good individuals for all the open positions,” said Superintendent Jeremy Klein.
When they say racing is in your blood, it’s entirely true for Marc Peters. His father, who was a racing fan, began taking Marc to Sunday afternoon weekly dirt track races at the Aurora County Fairgrounds when he was about four years old, and he was hooked!
The Heartland Huskie girls’ golf team may have low numbers but not talent. Returning is state qualifier Mia Hiebner, who placed 13th at last year’s state golf meet. Heartland industrial technology teacher Chad Buzek will be coaching the girls’ program for the first time. He coached the boys’ golf team last spring and is excited to begin building a girls’ program.
Henderson Health Care Services is holding its annual Health Fair Monday – Friday, August 14 – 18 from 7 to 8:30 AM. No appointment is necessary! The Health Fair will be held at the Henderson and Sutton clinics where you can register at the desk when you arrive. Last year 250 patients utilized the Health Fair’s discounted labs for a total savings of $151,551.
