After winning their district, the Heartland Volleyball team made an appearance at the Nebraska State Volleyball Tournament for the first time in 10 years. Last Thursday evening the girls faced the Blue Hill Bobcats. After a loss in the first set, the Huskies won the second, but fell short in set three and four. This defeat ended the team’s season with a 20-10 record.

Head Coach Sarah Ostmeyer commented, “We had a successful season this year, ending with a trip to the State Championships. This group of girls was hard working and dedicated. At the beginning of the season, they set their sights on their goals and they worked towards them with determination in each practice and competition. I was very impressed with the leadership of our three seniors as they stepped in to guide their teammates throughout the season.

These girls worked for each other and they worked well together. Earning the District title was a fitting reward for all the work the girls put in throughout the season. Although our time at the State tournament was shorter than we would have liked it to be, the girls fought hard on the road to state and we are thankful for all of the support the community, administration, and student body showed throughout the season.”
