photoHeartland junior Colton Siebert has been nominated by Coach Ribble as this month’s Heartland Beat Student of the Month. “Colton is a multi-talented young man,” said Ribble. He not only is a three sport athlete, but he is involved in about every extra-curricular activity available at Heartland High School—Band, Chorus, FBLA , drama, and musical productions. “He does all of these things with a smile, and a selfless attitude. Colton finds a way not only to balance all his extra-curricular activities, but to excel at them,” according to Ribble.

Heartland’s recent Winter Ball event was one of Siebert’s highlights of the year. “I really enjoyed being able to perform and practice with several large and smaller groups. It was fun picking out our own music and being able to play my guitar,” said Siebert. He grew up around guitars in his home where his dad got him started, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that he really began picking up on it.

He also has a few parts in the upcoming all school play, “Yearbook”.  He admits that some weeks when there were three basketball games, it was hard to squeeze in all the practice sessions for the Winter Ball, the upcoming play, and complete his homework. But since he enjoys it all, that doesn’t seem to bother Siebert.

“Basketball is going really well this year with the team bonding and having fun playing together,”  said Siebert. This is evident since the team voted him as one of their co-captains this year. “On the basketball court, he often guards the opponent’s best player, does the dirty work that often goes overlooked, and gets very little recognition from the media. But his teammates recognize how hard he works,” said Ribble.

Siebert is still undecided about college and what he might want to major in, but he is leaning towards business because of his success in FBLA. He has attended FBLA Nationals the past two years and hopes to place in the Advanced Accounting competition this spring so he can go to Nationals in Nashville this summer.

Congratulations to Colton Siebert for being such a positive role model and well-rounded student at Heartland High School!
