Several Heartland FFA members attended the Nebraska State FFA Convention in Lincoln held April 3-5.  This year marked the 85th year of the convention and the gathering of over 3,000 FFA members.

In addition to competing in their qualified events, students were able to attend leadership workshops and explore careers in agriculture.

In competitions, Samantha Boardman placed 2nd overall in job interview.  While reflecting on her last State FFA Convention she said, “I would say that my last FFA State Convention was a complete success because I met many great people and was involved with a great contest. Job interview is a real challenge because you can only study a certain amount.  The rest of the contest is up to your ability to come across as confident and connect with the interviewers in the short amount of time you meet with them. Participating in Job Interview will help me in the future because it’s so accurate to how you will interview in the future for a scholarship, job, etc.  The more interviews I’ve done, the more confident I’ve become!”

Also placing at the convention was Brent Regier who received 5th overall in Extemporaneous Speaking and Leah Friesen who received 3rd place for her proficiency in Specialty Crops.

A number of seniors applied for and received their State FFA Degree including: Samantha Boardman, Matthew Hiebner, Mattison Hiebner, Maelyn Huebert, Aaron Jensen, Ashton Kroeker, Emily Ott, Daniel Quiring, Brent Regier, and Stephanie Stamp.
