The last two years, we have held a Community Women’s Retreat in Nebraska City. Â Both years it was well supported and attended, but this year we are mixing things up. Â We are coming closer to home for a Women’s One Day Event!
We are so excited to announce that last year’s speaker, Jen Hatmaker, is returning to challenge us, encourage us, and make us laugh again. Â Jen is the author of “7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess” and “Interrupted: An Adventure in Relearning the Essentials of the Faith,” among other titles. Â Her husband and her are church planters in Austin, TX, where she claims to be doing her part in “keeping Austin weird”. Â Jen and her husband recently adopted two children from Ethiopia to add to the three children they already had. Â Jen speaks with depth and takes you into scripture to challenge and encourage you. Â Alongside of her depth, her speaking style gives you many opportunities to laugh until it hurts. Â You can learn more about Jen Hatmaker at her website: www.jenhatmaker.com
This year’s event is titled “Higher”. Â When we are walking with Christ, He invites us to continually go higher and deeper with Him. Â This looks different for each one of us; that’s the exciting part of the journey. Â We want to invite women that day to go “Higher” with Him, to look at going beyond our four walls, and to live on mission right where we are at with those in our sphere of life and beyond.
The event this year will be held at the Heartland Community School Auditorium on May 18 from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Tickets go on sale February 1 at supporting area churches (Henderson MB Church, Bethesda Mennonite Church, Faith Evangelical Bible, Lushton Bible, and Stockham Community Church) or you can get them via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Â We are encouraging those locally to purchase them at the churches. Â Tickets are $25 and include general seating and a luncheon.
We know May is a busy time with graduation and end of the year activities, but if you can spare a day, you won’t regret it!
