The Huskies boys and girls basketball teams came hungry for a win last night while facing the Nebraska Christian Eagles. Â Both teams got just that as the girls finished their game in a 56-28 victory while the boys took a 41-28 win.
The girls game was fairly close through the first quarter and the first quarter only.  After that, the Huskies took a commanding lead and did not let it slip.  Sophomore, Allison Braun had her breakout performance of the season with a solid all-around game and the team high 17 points.  She took a major step up as her teammate, Sara Brune was not playing due to illness.  Braun’s range looked good and it’s hoped she builds from here for the rest of the season.  Mikaelyn Dick also added 10 points while Ashton Kroeker added eight.  The Huskie girls kept their defense in check as well holding Nebraska Christian to 28 points and only allowing four from their team to score.
The Heartland boys also came out with the will to win.  The Huskies worked hard to win each quarter and held all of Nebraska Christian’s team members to single digit scoring.  Jordan Heinrichs had a big night and played an intense game.  He finished with a game high 20 points.  Brent Regier added with eight points.
This was a good boost into the weekend for both teams. Â They will hit the road tomorrow and play Tri-County then will have a make-up game on Friday to take on Twin River there.
