The Huskies girls headed north to Cross County last night to face the Cougars.

The first and second quarters were slow offensively for the Huskies and they were down 16-21 to end the half.  The second half was a thriller with Junior, Mikaelyn Dick hitting back to back threes to start the third quarter and get the Huskies back in the ball game.  The lead then went back and forth and the game ended dramatically with Mikaelyn driving the ball with 4.2 seconds left on the clock and the Huskies down by a point.  Mikaelyn was fouled on the shot and hit two very clutch free throws to tie the game and then go up a point.  That point was the game winner as the Huskies prevailed 45-44.

The Huskies were hitting on all cylinders as Junior, Ashton Kroeker did a great job of finding her open teammates and getting them the ball.  She saw the court and handled the ball well last night.  With Kroeker’s great assist game, Mikaelyn ended the night with team high 24 points as well as Junior, Sara Brune also in double digits with 10 points.

The team did a great job all night connecting on free throws going 19 for 23.  Two of those 19 made free throws were pivital for the game, as Mikaelyn hit both foul shots with just seconds left for the win.

The team will try to improve their 6-3 record Tuesday night against Superior (6-6) here at Heartland.  Do not miss any of the action.  If you can not make the game, log onto HeartlandBeat.com and watch the game LIVE Streamed on the Huskie Sports Network!
